As the chief of psychology in the federal prison system, Dr. Jack Jaffe has experienced the people, culture, and psychology of prisons first hand. In “There’s No Crying in Prison Battling the Dark Side of Human Nature” (ISBN 1453772979), he introduces criminal justice students and those interested in criminology to the intensely interpersonal world of prisons. In this second book, "Prison-wise, The Psychology of Incarceration, The Potential for Change" Jaffe explores the individual psychology of inmates in this treacherous world. He describes how men survive, adjust, and eventually succeed in this most inhospitable environment. Jaffe also explores how time perspectives change for inmates, their psychological victories and defeats, and what they can learn from prison personnel. Jaffe concludes with strategies to build 21st century prisons so that releasing inmates can become productive citizens.

Prisonwise The Psychology of Incarceration The Potential for Change edition by Jack Jaffe Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews
I purchased this book as part of my research for a criminal justice class. The author brings an interesting perspective to the trials of those incarcerated from his years as a prison psychologist.
I used this book as a part of my curriculum for a correctional psychology class. It is well-written with a subjective experience of the author as a prison psychologist. This book gave me a lot of insight into what it is like to be incarcerated. I encourage everyone to read this book, it will change the way you see criminals. Especially get this book if you are thinking about working in this field or have a relative who is incarcerated.
Prison-Wise is definitely one of my favorites. I look to this book for support on my writing pieces but also to refer to my own life.
